Waited not that long actually but was lucky because very low traffic and cars are full. However you should probably find someone to go in direction of Serbia or to some gas station further where most of them will go to Serbia. Learn some words and phrase in Serbian to be polite. Ask around don't use cardboard. Thanks Alex!―cavalierrustique

Not the ideal but probably the best to go out of Zagreb. I took bus 281 but you can also take bus 276. A car stopped after 20mn but they were going north. Got a ride to Slavonski Brod after an hour. Thank you Šimečka. You will need a big cardboard and you can find some in the trash in the corner of the gas station outside.―cavalierrustique

Arrived there with the bus but it was already late...so we went back and forth from the Ikea exit . Better to talk to people at the gas station what we did and then a guy brought us a little further to another gas station like 20 mins down the road or so―Jonei23

The worst spot ever for me personally, we ( 2guys) were waiting there from the evening into the night 3 hours going back and fourth to the gas station and border, so we had to sleep at the river in the middle of winter, and tried the next day ... also very disappointing, so we had to wait for a bus at 16:00 . 0/10 would not recommend , maybe better to cross bosnia via banja luka .―Jonei23

Similar experience, not too busy, mostly trucks, there is water and a abandoned hotel good for sleeping also a supermarket near. A Serbian truck driver took me to the border at Shid (apparently they try to avoid the border at the highway due to traffic)―Anonymous

Little traffic, just like all the petrol station along this highway. Got offered a ride from a turkish truck driver to the last petrol station before serbian border. The old building is still there.

Not so busy traffic, some cars with ZG licence plate, probably going to Zagreb. One guy offered us (two guys) a ride to Belgrad after 10 minutes. Got a ride in 25 minutes to Osiek, around 10 AM, Friday.―Juhfej

Waited less than an hour hitchhiking with a sign to Slavosnky Brod. You can access the Service Station from Novska, there's a road with a bridge that passes over the highway that goes to a nature reserve which can be entered through an openable gate. Once you're there go left through a dirt road, there's many huge wild pigs so be careful not to startle them, go straight and there's another opened gate to the station.

Waited about 45 minutes but then got a lift straight to Serbian border with a truck. This gas station is not very busy, or at least not busy on Monday mid morning.―Anonymous

it's an empty gas station! 3 cars each 10min, got a ride only for some KM further direction Serbia with two nice young guys.If you are two persons it will be hard for you (my case boy and girl) and specially in summer, lot of people going to Turkey and Syria with full cars, the real meaning of a full car! not even space to breath, anyway my advices is to separate and take trucks if you are two.
